Spotlight on the Saturday Neighborhood Health Clinic

Established in 1997 by Washington University medical and social work students, the Saturday Neighborhood Health Clinic (SNHC) is a place where individuals without health insurance can go to receive exceptional health services and preventative screenings free of charge.  Once the patient has been provided with the proper medical care, a social worker with the School of Social Work will assist them with a primary care provider and help the patients apply for programs such as Medicaid.

The clinic is maintained by medical students and staffed by doctors from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.  They provide the standard care found at a primary care physicians office such as physical exams, vaccines, and women’s health.  They do not provide dental service or pediatric care.

The Saturday Neighborhood Family Health Clinic is located in the Forest Park Southeast Neighborhood in the Family Health Care Center on 4352 Manchester Avenue.  It is open on Saturday mornings from 9:00am to 12:00pm on a first come, first serve basis.

Check out Tara Bolen’s  interview below with Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis,  first year medical students Michael Tang and Robert Klemisch.  Michael and Robert discuss the importance of  SNHC, what the clinic offers the public,  and how it benefits the  surrounding neighborhood of Forest Park Southeast.
